Dr Hewitt is subspecialty trained in gynaecological cancer surgery.
You may have been recently diagnosed as having a cancer and this will be a distressing time for you and your family. He will endeavour to answer all you questions and decide on the best individualised treatment for you. Part of this discussion will also involve a decision on where you treatment will take place. We are fortunate in Cork in having recognised cancer centres in both the Bon Secours Hospital and the Cork University Hospital. Dr Hewitt will discuss the best location for your treatment which will be subject to you insurance cover and also the best location to perform your surgery. Both centres have established Multidisciplinary Meetings where your care will be discussed with Surgeons, Medical oncologist, Radiation oncologists, Pathologists and Radiologists.
There are many support groups and information sites available on the internet and below are trusted sites that will give appropriate and informative information on your cancer.

Dr Hewitt is extremely thankful to the Emer Casey foundation who funded a gynaecological oncology liaison nurse for a year to support cancer patients at the CUMH for a year. As a result of this funding this has now become a permanent post at the Cork University Hospital Campus
