Can I have it if I have a coil already fitted ?
Yes.
Does it hurt during or after?
Treatment is pain free.
How long after treatment can I have intercourse?
You should abstain from penetrative intercourse for 5 – 7 days following treatment.
Will I bleed?
No.
Can I get an infection from this treatment?
No.
If I have vaginal thrush, will this treatment make it worse?
No it will not make it worse but if you are prone to getting thrush it would be advisable to purchase an over the counter treatment such as Canesten 2 to 3 days prior to your planned laser treatment.
Can I have if I am on my period?
It is advisable not to have treatment during your period.
Can it irritate my cystitis?
Treatment has not been associated with any worsening cystitis type symptoms.
I am on antibiotics can I still have treatment?
Yes.
I am having laser hair removal on my bikini line is it ok to have treatment after this ?
Yes.
I think I might have a STD, can I have transvaginal laser ?
It is better to have this checked out and treated before treatment.
Can you exercise straight after?
Yes, but strenuous exercise should be avoided for 7 days after treatment.
Can you have a hot shower or bath or use the sauna after the treatment?
Yes.
Will any form of contraception interfere – like pills or implant?
No.
Will this treatment help or prevent prolapse?
It will help mild prolapse but it is unlikely to prevent long term prolapse.
Can I have this treatment if I had a hysterectomy?
Yes.
Can I have this treatment if I had previous vaginal repair surgery for prolapse?
In most cases yes, however if mesh was used in the repair, you should discuss with Prof O’Reilly.
I suffer from vaginal dryness. Will this treatment make it worse?
No.
How long after giving birth can I undergo treatment?
Following vaginal delivery it is advisable to wait 3 months before starting treatment.
Can I have the treatment while breast feeding?
Yes.
Are there any special instructions for after treatment?
Just to avoid penetrative sex for 5 – 7 days following treatment.
