Shalini Wiseman (MISCP, POGP, DYT)

Shalini is the Clinical Lead Physiotherapist at the Cork Womens Clinic and works as a Senior Physiotherapist in Women’s Health and Continence at the Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH). She is a member of both the Chartered Physiotherapists in Women’s Health and Continence (CPWHC, Ireland) and the Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy (POGP, UK). She is an invited guest lecturer for the midwifery and MSc Obstetrics and Gynaecology students of University College Cork (UCC).

Shalini has undertaken several studies in Physiotherapy in Obstetrics and Uro-Gynaecology and presented at national and international conferences such as the International Uro-Gynaecological Association Conference and European Uro-Gynaecological Association Conference. She assisted in formatting the national clinical practice guidelines for management of pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy and postpartum for the HSE.

Shalini has vast experience in treating a broad range of Women’s Health related conditions such as incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor dysfunctions, dyspareunia, and ante-natal and post-natal pelvic girdle dysfunction. Her rehabilitation program focuses on reducing symptoms and improving quality of life by using a diverse range of physiotherapy techniques such as manual therapy, dry needling, therapeutic yoga exercises and real time ultrasound.
Shalini qualified with honours from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences India, in 2000. She has worked as a clinical lead with the Apollo group of hospitals in Mysore, India where she established and ran the physiotherapy department.

While at the HSE, Shalini has worked in both acute hospital and in community roles specialising in Women’s Health and Continence services. She completed her post graduate training in women’s health at Bradford University, UK in 2004 where she focused on Obstetrics and Uro-Gynaecology. She is a qualified Pilate’s instructor from the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute and a Yoga Instructor with a Diploma in Yoga therapy from Karnataka Yoga Kendra, India.
